Visit to the bottom of the Nancy Creek Sewer Tunnel

The City set up a Citizens Advisory Committee  (CAC) for the Nancy Creek Sewer Tunnel project.  North Buckhead's representatives on the CAC, Gordon Certain, Nancy Jones and Walda Lavroff, went down below at the Roswell Road site on July 28.

We had several concerns, having gotten emails from people in Cobb County saying their creeks had dried up when a tunnel was built there.  We had also heard that creeks such as Nancy Creek tend to follow fault lines -- the fault's fractured rock is said to make depressions where creeks tend to locate, fractures which potentially extend ground water deep into the earth.  Further, since blasting was used to excavate the "starter tunnel" we were visiting, we feared there might be a lot of water from Nancy Creek gushing through the cracks into the tunnel.
